About Unloop

Unloop was founded in 2015 to address an urgent gap: justice-impacted people were being left behind as digital skills became essential to reaching opportunity. With input from corrections-based learners and technologists, we set out to build practical pathways to technology skills.

In partnership with Washington State community colleges and the Department of Corrections, Unloop launched college-accredited programs that helped justice-impacted students earn web development certificates. As participants returned home, we evolved to support their reentry through digital literacy, technology readiness, and community connection.

Today, access to jobs, housing, education, and services runs through digital systems. Washington has the highest concentration of technology jobs in the country, with the tech sector making up about 22 percent of the state economy. Unloop helps formerly incarcerated adults build the digital capability to reach that opportunity, moving from access, to navigating systems independently, to long-term stability in work, education, and housing.

At our core, we are a community of students, alumni, educators, technologists, and partners working to reduce recidivism and open access to opportunity.
